Main research trends of the Institute

The Institute of Cytology RAS is the leading institution of the Russian Academy of Sciences within the field of modern cell biology. The main task of the Institute is to study the structural organization and expression of nuclear genome, structure and function of cell organelles, investigation of intracellular processes and intercellular contacts.

At present the research priorities of the Institute are concentrated on the following topics::

• mechanisms of cell damaging and cell death;
• cell malignization and tumor growth;
